Mount Pleasant is a
small hill on the edge of the Champlain Valley of Vermont, conveniently located
just one mile off of Route 7, yet very secluded.
At one time, this was a typical Vermont hill farm with more rocks than
cattle. Except for the steep hillsides, most of the property was cleared for
pasture land.
Today most of the 180 acre property is
wooded except for the five acres surrounding the house and barn. You can walk
the trails which access most of the property, from the summit of Mt. Pleasant
to the shores of Mud Pond. It is a wonderful place to come and get away from it
all.
Your hosts, Andy and Donna Hutchison,
welcome you to their home and place of business. Andy and his father are
consulting foresters. They also manage a wholesale Christmas tree operation.
The Hutchisons also have a retail shop where local maple syrup producers come
to buy their supplies. Donna takes care of most of the operations around the
house, from equipment and syrup sales, to operating the B&B.
If you enjoy a working vacation, come join us during sugaring season! We have a mid-size maple syrup operation where we give guests the opportunity to help out with various aspects of sugaring, from gathering sap to stoking the wood-fired evaporator. This is one of our favorite times of the year, and one of the busiest.
The 200 year old farmhouse has been enlarged and modernized without losing its charm and character. Currently there are two guest rooms available, both with private baths. Note these rooms are upstairs and are not handicap-accessible. The dining and sitting rooms are downstairs with back-to-back fireplaces. Guests have their own entrance to the house and can come and go at their leisure. During the warm weather there is a screened-in porch and and a glass enclosed porch to sit and relax.
Note that smoking is not allowed in any of the buildings nor is alcohol allowed on the premises.
